Little Dancer
OPEN FOR INVESTMENT

In 1881, just as he was beginning to lose his eyesight, the great artist Edgar Degas exhibited his tough, uncompromising sculpture of a young ballerina. The work created a huge scandal in Paris and not long after it was shown, the girl herself was dismissed from the Paris Opera Ballet. She vanished into the slums of Paris and no one knows her fate. But today, the unknown girl he portrayed is famous throughout the world as “The Little Dancer at Age 14.” Her name is Marie. This is her story.

LITTLE DANCER is an original musical. Part fact, part fiction, and set in the glamorous and dangerous backstage world of the Paris Opera Ballet, the musical follows Marie van Goethem, a head strong young dancer who finds herself caught between the conflicting demands of her dream to be a dancer, her poverty-stricken family and her work for the uncompromising Monsieur Degas. Bringing together fine art, classical ballet, historical truth and musical theater, LITTLE DANCER is an event for our times—about the travails of artists and the indomitable spirit of women.
